Mifgash Karavan (Jerusalem)
The Arabic Mediterranean restaurant Mifgash Hacaravan was established in 1950 by Hag Moussa, the Muchtar of Abu Gosh. It was built on the remains of the check point from the days when the Turkish people ruled tha land. The restaurant is called caravan (trailer) because of its location at the old check point, besides the main road to Jerusalem. Its unique location on the road to Jerusalem combined with the goodness of the food and its scent, has bought her its good reputation and and the many customers who attend the restaurant – tourists, residents and people passing by.In 1958 Hag Moussa has accepted the Israeli tourist office to renovate and enlarge the restaurant so it could host more tourists. In 1994 Hag Moussa was honored to light one of the torches in honor of the brotherhood of the different people of Israel, in the opening ceremony of Israel’s Independence Day in mount Herzel in Jerusalem.Hag Moussa passed away in 1997 at the age of 81. -
